Lee a "show-stopper" at No. 8 in CU's Top 10

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Zachary Lee has still yet to play an official minute of a Yellow Jacket men's soccer match, but that doesn't keep him from grabbing position No. 8 on CU's Top 10 of '11-12.

Lee, a freshman goalkeeper from Newark, Del., made his collegiate debut a memorable one in the NCCAA Midwest Region championship match on Nov. 19, 2011. He stopped two penalty kicks in a shootout against visiting Grace College allowing Cedarville to claim its second straight region banner and advance to the national tournament.

The top-seeded Yellow Jackets and the Lancers played to a 0-0 draw following 110 minutes of action, thus, requiring the shootout. Starting keeper Curtis Ranck went to the sidelines in favor of Lee, who in the words of Head Coach Todd Beall is “exceptional at stopping penalty kicks.” He rose to the occasion.

Lee turned aside Grace's third and fourth opportunities which provided Steve Ellis the honor of burying the deciding kick. The rookie keeper, who is still awaiting his first varsity minute, also came off the bench in Florida to expertly handle two shootout situations at the NCCAA Championship.
