CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Hannah Lamos upheld the Lady Jackets' longstanding tradition of successful distance running by winning the 2011 NCCAA Cross Country Championship and is No. 6 on CU's Top 10 of '11-12.
Cedarville again hosted the national meet at the Elvin R. King Cross Country on Nov. 12, 2011 and the team knew it would be a challenging day. Three of the Lady Jackets' top seven runners were on the sidelines with injuries.
Lamos, a junior from Long Lake, N.Y., entered the race having been the squad's No. 1 runner each time out and had improved her 5K time as the season progressed. This day, she toured the course in a personal-best mark of 18:29 to win by two seconds.
Lamos was the third Lady Jacket in the last four years to win the individual title. Out of the 31 NCCAA women's races, a CU runner has taken the crown 10 times.
