Aker had a profound impact in Yellow Jacket golf upon transferring from nearby Wittenberg University.
A native of Springfield, Ohio, he immediately became Cedarville’s No. 1 golfer and set the school’s single-season scoring record of 73.61 in his first year.
Aker broke the program’s mark for 18 holes when he carded a five-under par 67 in the Ohio Dominican Classic.
He graduated as the Jackets’ all-time leader in scoring average at 74.72 strokes per 18 holes.
Aker was a two-time NCCAA All-American, was twice named to the PING NAIA All-Region Team, and was a two-time NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
Scott and his wife, Libby (Short), who is a former Lady Jacket volleyball player, reside in Springfield with their four boys.
He is a lieutenant in the Ohio State Highway Patrol where he has served for 13 years.
