CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Matt Harner scored a career-high 28 points as NAIA Division II #9 Cedarville outlasted #10 Huntington, 66-60, in a non-conference game played in the Callan Athletic Center.
The Yellow Jackets finished the first half with a 21-7 spurt for a 48-28 bulge by the intermission. The 20-point difference was the largest of the game.
However, Cedarville, 7-3 overall, had to overcome an anemic offensive performance in the second half and a furious rally by Huntington to pull out the victory.
The Jackets put just nine points on the board in the first 17:10 of the second half allowing the visitors to close the gap. The Foresters got as close as 57-56 with 1:55 left, but Harner's three-point play at the 1:30 mark provided a four-point cushion.
Chris Beals followed up a steal with a three-point play of his own with 35.1 seconds remaining to push the lead out to 65-58. Cedarville started 4-for-21 from the field in the second period before making its last three in a row to seal the outcome.
Harner scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the first half. Ricardo Alliman added 12 points despite playing just 19 minutes due to foul trouble. Huntington drops to 11-2. [STATS]
