Depth carries Cedarville at Marietta

Winik, Wong are NAIA automatic qualifiers

MARIETTA, Ohio - Alexa Winik and Lydia Wong were winners in two events and met NAIA automatic qualifying standards in one each to lead Cedarville to victory at the Marietta Open.

Winik, who qualified the previous week in the 55 and 200 meter dashes, added another with her winning time in the 400 in 58.01 seconds. Wong, a three-time All-American in the mile, met the auto mark with a 5:04.45 effort to win the event.

Winik and Wong teamed up with Carolyn Case and Joy Santos in the 4 x 400 meter relay to win in 4:10.74. Santos added a victory in the 200 meter dash in 27.29 seconds and Case led a 1-2-3 Lady Jacket finish in the 1,000 meters in 3:07.16.

Other first-place finishes came from Neola Putnam in the 800 (2:25.05), Chelsea Gruet in the 55 meter hurdles (8.82), and Tara Leaman in the weight throw (46-4.75).

Cedarville won the six-team meet with 151 points. The host Pioneers had 128 points while West Virginia Wesleyan tallied 120. [COMPLETE RESULTS]
