CU dominates, but drops 2-1 decision

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets controlled nearly every phase of the game against American Mideast Conference foe Notre Dame (Ohio), yet came out on the short end of a 2-1 result.

Cedarville outshot the Falcons 15-4 overall and 9-3 in shots on goal. The hosts even had a perfect 8-0 advantage in corner kicks and committed four fewer fouls.

However, Notre Dame scored on the only two shots it placed on frame in the first period to get all it would need to improve to 7-2-3 overall and 6-1-1 AMC.

The Falcons got on the board in the 18th minute. Anna Schmid nailed her first collegiate goal in the 30th minute with a right wing shot into the far corner of the goal. Sarah Brownfield was given the assist.

The 1-1 deadlock lasted until the final moments of the first half when Notre Dame tallied in the 44th minute. Cedarville, 5-9-1 and 3-3-1 AMC, could not come up with the equalizer despite outshooting the visitors 9-1 over the final 45 minutes.
