CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets snapped a three-match skid by knocking off American Mideast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan in four sets on Senior Night in the Callan Athletic Center.
The winning scores for Cedarville were 25-16, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19 pushing the Jackets' record to 12-12 overall and 3-1 AMC. The Raiders fall to 19-13 and 2-5 AMC.
CU pulled away at the end of the opening set scoring the final eight points to win it. The Lady Jackets labored through a tight second set which featured 11 ties. A double block from Sarah Hartman and Stephanie Rogers was the final tally in a two-point margin.
Roberts Wesleyan never trailed in the third set. There were four ties, the last of which was 19-19, with the Raiders closing on a 6-1 spurt.
Cedarville never trailed after breaking an 11-11 tie in the fourth set. Rookie Lauren Williams had the kill for the match point.
Rogers finished with match highs of 15 kills and five blocks to pace the Jackets. Lauren Gill hammered 10 kills. Erica Bartholomew totaled 35 assists and Heather Kirkpatrick had 10 digs.
Hartman and Kylee Husak were honored prior to the match as the team's graduating seniors. Hartman recorded seven kills and three blocks in the victory while Husak added five kills and two blocks.
