MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Rachel Brownfield scored 29 seconds into the second overtime to lift Cedarville to a 1-0 American Mideast Conference victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene.

The win is only the second for the Lady Jackets in 12 tries against MVNU, who still leads the season series, 9-2-1. More importantly, the outcome locks up an AMC playoff berth for Cedarville no matter the result of Saturday's regular season finale at Walsh.

After battling through very windy conditions and an hour weather delay with 12 minutes left in regulation, the Jackets finally pulled out the win. Amanda Bunton delivered a pass to the left wing where Brownfield lofted a perfectly placed shot over the keeper and into the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Alysia Bennett made six saves and registered her fifth shutout for Cedarville, 7-9-1 overall and 5-3-1 AMC. She upped her career shutout total to 11 to tie Melissa Fawcett's all-time mark.

MVNU, 10-5 and 5-4 AMC, had the advantage in overall shots, 15-12, but the Lady Jackets had the slight edge in shots on goal, 7-6.
