MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Stephanie Rogers hammered 14 kills to lead the #5 seed Lady Jackets to a three-set sweep of #4 Point Park in the first round of the American Mideast Conference Tournament.
Cedarville, 17-17 overall, rolled to a 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 victory to advance to face host and top-seed Mount Vernon Nazarene in Saturday's first semifinal at noon. The other semi at 2:00 p.m. features #3 Malone against #2 Walsh with the championship match at 6:00.
The Lady Jackets dropped a tough five-set encounter exactly two weeks ago at Point Park. This time, CU pulled out a two-point win in the first set and never looked back.
Lauren Gill supplied 10 kills and two blocks. Kylee Husak and Sarah Hartman tallied nine kills and two blocks each while Kelsey Christiansen chipped in five kills and three blocks.
Erica Bartholomew was good for 41 assists with Heather Kirkpatrick racking up 25 digs. Point Park ends its season at 29-10.
