Yellow Jackets outshoot MVNU

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Three-point baskets were abundant as NAIA Division II #18 Cedarville shot down AMC foe Mount Vernon Nazarene, 92-79, before 3,050 Li'l Sibs Weekend fans in the Callan Athletic Center.

The two rivals combined for 24 three-pointers, but the Yellow Jackets had the advantage, 14-10. It allowed the hosts to win their ninth straight American Mideast Conference game.

Cedarville hit 9-of-17 treys in the first half in bolting to a 52-38 lead at the intermission. Another triple to open the second half by Chris Beals pushed the difference to 17 points which was the largest spread in the contest.

MVNU chipped away and got to within 77-72. Austin Foote, who came off the bench with a game-high 22 points, netted five straight points to provide some breathing room for the Jackets, 19-8 overall and 11-2 AMC.

Beals finished with 17 points. Ricardo Alliman worked for 11 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks while Brandon Sok provided 10 points in a reserve role. The Cougars, whose 10 three-pointers were a season-high, fall to 11-15 and 3-10 AMC. [STATS]
