Yellow Jackets take NAIA opener in overtime

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - Ricardo Alliman exploded for 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead #13 Cedarville to an 86-77 overtime victory against Warner Pacific (Ore.) in the first round of the 19th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament at College of the Ozarks. The Jackets meet #4 seed Bellevue (Neb.) in the second round on Friday.

The contest was expected to be tight throughout and that's exactly what transpired. Matt Harner broke the final deadlock with a deep three-pointer with 49 seconds left in the OT. After Alliman blocked a potential game-tying three-pointer, Harner added two free throws to provide some cushion.

The Yellow Jackets went 10-for-10 at the charity stripe in the extra session to secure the win. Harner and Alliman converted four apiece while Chris Beals hit the final two.

Alliman paced four players in double figures for the Yellow Jackets, 26-8 overall, who extended their winning streak to 10 in a row. Harner netted all 15 of his points in the second period. Beals and Austin Foote chipped in 11 points apiece.

Cedarville has won 16 of its last 17 games and defeated Warner Pacific for the second time in as many tries at the national tournament. The Knights end their season at 22-10. [STATS]
