CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets crushed Ohio Christian 19-0 in the first game of a non-conference twinbill before struggling to put away the Trailblazers, 4-1, in the nightcap.
Cedarville sent 17 batters to the plate during a 12-run third inning in the opener. The Jackets hammered 15 hits, including six for extra bases, to go along with five walks and a hit batter.
Five different CU players recorded two hits apiece led by Nate Davenport, who drilled a pair of doubles and scored twice. Derek Graham, Kyler Ludlow, Tyler Rost, and Sam Rowe also had two hits each. Rob Nesteroff doubled, scored twice, and drove in four runs. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
The offense went stagnant in the second game with the exception of the bat of David Convertini, who had three of the team's five hits. He also scored a run and drove in another.
Cedarville was hanging on to a slim 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Nate Wilson drew a bases loaded walk and Dan Petke produced a sacrifice fly to provide some cushion.
