Willett, Jackets salvage win over Falcons

EUCLID, Ohio - Matthew Willett spun a complete-game three-hitter as Cedarville avoided a four-game series sweep at Notre Dame with a 6-1 victory in the second game of an American Mideast Conference doubleheader. The Falcons won the opener, 6-5.

Willett picked up his first win of the season by limiting NDC to an unearned run. He struck out seven and walked three.

Tyler Rost tallied a pair of hits including a double, an RBI, and a stolen base. Alex Beelen contributed a double and a stolen base while David Convertini also doubled for the Yellow Jackets, 15-7 overall and 4-4 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

Cedarville erased a three-run deficit in the first game with a three-run 5th inning to knot the score at 5-5. NDC pushed across the game winner in the bottom half of the frame.

Chris Ward recorded two of the Yellow Jackets' six hits. He also stole a base and was hit by a pitch. Cedarville failed to take full advantage of six walks and two hit batters in the contest by stranding eight runners on base compared to four for the Falcons. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
