CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Alexa Winik and Chelsea Gruet won two events apiece as the Lady Jackets edged runner-up Marietta to claim the Cedarville Collegiate Open championship.
The host Jackets tallied 136.5 points while Marietta finished with 133.5. Capital was 3rd in the 12-team meet with 100 points.
Winik won the 100 meter dash in 12.32 seconds and tacked on the 200 meter dash crown with a mark of 25.32. Gruet took first place in the 100 meter hurdles (15.91) and the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.52).
Lydia Wong met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard in the 800 meter run with a winning time of 2:14.19. The Lady Jackets' other event winner was Tara Leaman in the hammer with a heave of 152-feet even.
Leaman was the runner-up in the javelin (110-11). Carolyn Case was 2nd in the 1,500 meters in 4:51.54 and Neola Putnam was a close 3rd in 4:51.96. Sarah Stevens placed 3rd in the 5,000 meters in 19:42.22.
