CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Shawnee State remained unbeaten in the American Mideast Conference after posting 4-2 and 7-6 victories against host Cedarville.
The Yellow Jackets collected just three hits in the opener. They took a 1-0 lead in their first at bat on a two-out single by Nate Davenport that scored Paul Hembekides. Chris Ward's two-out triple in the 4th scored Rob Nesteroff for a 2-1 lead.
However, the Bears scored twice in the 5th inning and added an insurance run in the 7th. The only other CU hit was a double by Andrew York. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
A late rally fell short for the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap after falling into a 7-2 hole. Cedarville got a run in the 6th and Brandon Young capped off a three-run 7th with a two-run home run.
Young finished 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Davenport doubled, homered, drove in two runs, and scored twice for Cedarville, 21-15 overall and 5-9 AMC.
