NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Lydia Wong was voted the Athlete of the Meet in the track events while Tara Leaman earned the honor in the field events to lead the Lady Jackets to a runner-up finish at the American Mideast Conference Championship.
Wong was a winner in the 800 meters in 2:15.80 to go along with a victory in the 1,500 in 4:45.01. She was also part of the runner-up 4 x 800 meter relay team along with Carolyn Case and younger sisters Abby Wong and Rachel Wong that posted a time of 9:31.38.
Leaman established meet and school records with a winning heave in the hammer of 166-feet 8-inches. She was the runner-up in the discus (136-6) and was 3rd in the javelin (108-2).
Alexa Winik was a double winner by sprinting to victory in the 100 (12.70) and 200 (25.34) meter dashes. CU's other victories came from Katie Lanphier in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.11 and Amanda Tingley in the first-ever 5,000 meter race walk in 35:20.42.
Case was 2nd in the 1,500 meters in 4:50.82. Other runner-up efforts were turned in by Courtnie Merritt in the high jump (4-11.75) and Chelsea Gruet in the 400 meter hurdles (1:07.0).
Individual and relay champions are All-AMC First Team honorees. Runner-up performers in individual events only make up the All-AMC Second Team.
Malone totaled 222 points to win the seven-team event. Cedarville had 175 points and host Walsh was at 139.
