ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Point Park took out a season's worth of frustration by completing a four-game American Mideast Conference sweep over Cedarville by scores of 10-0 and 7-6.
The Pioneers came into the four games just 2-18 in the AMC, but eight of those losses had been by one run. The hosts sent the Yellow Jackets home reeling with their fifth straight loss and ninth in the last ten games.
Point Park pounded CU 10-0 in the opener and it was halted in the 5th inning via the 10-run mercy rule. It was the third time in five days the Jackets have been "run ruled."
Cedarville produced only a leadoff single by Tyler Rost in the 4th inning. The lone highlight actually occurred on the defensive side of the field when the Jackets pulled off their second triple play of the season. In the meantime, the Pioneers rifled 14 hits around the ball park including four doubles and a triple. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
Cedarville, 22-21 overall and 6-14 AMC, got off to a good start in the night cap. A four-run 2nd inning resulted in a 5-0 lead, but PPU answered with all seven of its runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Rob Nesteroff had three hits including three doubles for the Yellow Jackets. Rost and David Convertini added three hits each and Brandon Young contributed two. Point Park ends its season 13-26 and 6-18 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
