CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets closed out the opening day of the Cedarville Invitational with a four-set victory over Saint Joseph's (Ind.) after dropping a four-set match earlier in the afternoon to Urbana.
Cedarville knocked off Saint Joseph's 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23 to square it's season record at 2-2. The Jackets rallied from a seven-point deficit in the fourth set to pull out the win. Lauren Gill broke a 20-20 deadlock with a kill to give the hosts the lead for good.
Sarah Hartman paced a balanced attack with nine kills. Gill, Kylee Husak, and Stephanie Rogers produced seven kills each. Erica Bartholomew tallied 35 assists and Lauren Williams came up with 16 digs.
Urbana downed Cedarville in the opening match of the day 27-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-23. The Blue Knights closed the match with a 6-3 spurt to pull it out.
Rogers hammered 15 kills. Gill chipped in 10 while Husak added eight kills with three blocks. Bartholomew had 35 assists and Heather Kirkpatrick came up with 20 digs.
