CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets rallied to force extra innings on a chilly day against NCAA Division II Northern Kentucky, but the Norse won the non-conference encounter, 10-8.
Cedarville trailed 8-6 entering the bottom of the 8th inning. The Jackets plated two unearned runs to get even before NKU eventually broke the deadlock on a two-out, two-run homer in the 10th inning.
CU's biggest deficit was 7-3. Alex Beelen doubled in a run in the 6th and Nate Davenport drilled a two-run homer in the 7th, his third of the season, to get the Yellow Jackets back in it.
Beelen was 3-for-5 with two RBI's on a day in which the wind chill hovered around freezing the entire game. Cameron McWilliams had two hits including a double and scored twice while Andrew York added two hits.
Cedarville falls to 13-6 on the year. Northern Kentucky is 10-6.
