Box Score 2 CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Yellow Jackets exploded for 22 hits including six for extra bases to register their first wins of 2013 in a pair of games played at Jack Russell Stadium.
Cedarville bested Goshen, 7-4, and then outslugged Clearwater Christian, 13-10, in a rematch of the season opener a day earlier.
In the morning contest, the Yellow Jackets recovered from an early 3-2 deficit against the Maple Leafs. A two-run fourth inning and a three-run sixth gave CU some breathing room.
Logan Kasabian went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.
David Lenhardt was a near match by going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Chris Ward contributed a triple, an RBI, and scored a run.
Starting pitcher
Ryan Ledbetter tossed the first five innings to get the victory. He allowed three earned runs and struck out four.
Sean Larkin surrendered just two hits in the final four innings.
In the nightcap, Cedarville needed back-to-back four-run innings in the eighth and ninth to hold off Clearwater Christian. The two teams combined for 23 runs and 23 hits.
Kasabian was 3-for-4 with a double and five RBI's. Ward drove in five more runs on two hits including a double.
Cam McWilliams went 3-for-5 and scored three times.
Sam Summerlin added two hits and
Dan Larkin had three runs.
Garrett Baker was credited with the win in relief.
Rob Nesteroff struck out the final two batters to net the save.
