Rob Nesteroff worked deep into the seventh inning and reliever
Sean Larkin preserved the lead to give Cedarville a 4-3 win over Trevecca Nazarene in game two of a key Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Trojans withstood a late Yellow Jacket comeback to claim the opener, 5-4. The two teams wrap up their four-game series on Saturday.
With CU leading the second contest, 4-3, Larkin came on with two outs in the seventh and runners on first and third. He escaped the jam when his first pitch was popped up into foul territory for the final out.
TNU put runners on first and second with one out in both the eighth and ninth innings. On each occasion, Larkin retired the next two Trojans with balls to the outfield.
Nesteroff, 3-0, allowed three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. Larkin gave up just two hits the rest of the way while notching his third save.
Steve Cardwell dropped a two-out, two-run double just inside the right field line in the second inning to get the scoring started.

Ryan Ledbetter added RBI singles in the third
For the moment, the Yellow Jackets regained first place in the league at 21-11 overall and 6-4 G-MAC. Trevecca Nazarene is 26-18 and 7-5.
Cedarville came up just short in the opener. The Jackets scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning, but left the tying run at third base to end the contest.
Chris Ward singled in the first run in the seventh.
Cam McWilliams scored on a wild pitch and Kasabian added an RBI groundout.
CU was hitless until Ward doubled to open the sixth inning. He finished with two of the team's five hits and
Chris Fox supplied a double.
