Yellow Jackets come up short in G-MAC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville needed only one win to claim the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title, but Trevecca Nazarene spoiled the party with a doubleheader sweep.

The Trojans rallied for an 8-6 result in the opener and then shut down the hosts in the nightcap, 5-0.

The Yellow Jackets' best chance was in the first game. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two at bats and then had their first two batters reach base in the third.

CU failed to take advantage and then came the TNU fourth inning. The Jackets committed three errors, coughed up six runs, five of which were unearned, and couldn't completely recover.

Chris Ward had two hits including a triple with an RBI. Logan Kasabian added two hits and an RBI while Steve Cardwell contributed two hits. Dan Larkin scored twice.

In an unusual twist, four of Cedarville runs came across the plate on wild pitches.

The Yellow Jackets, 21-13 overall and 6-6 G-MAC, were completely handcuffed in the second contest. The offense managed a first inning single from Kasabian and that was it.

The game was scoreless until TNU, 28-18 and 9-5, scored in the sixth inning. A three-run eighth clinched the outcome.
