Box Score 2 RENSSELAER, Ind. - A six-run fifth inning by host Saint Joseph's finished off the Yellow Jackets, 7-3, to complete a sweep of a non-conference baseball doubleheader.
The Pumas held on to win the first game, 4-3.
In the nightcap, Cedarville was primed to gain a split of the twinbill after
Chris Fox hammered a two-run homer in the top of the fifth for a 3-1 lead. However, SJC answered by marching nine batters to the plate which resulted in the decisive inning.
Fox was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI's for the Yellow Jackets, 15-9 overall.
Chris Ward and
Steve Cardwell added doubles.
Saint Joseph's, 17-10, totaled eight hits against three CU pitchers. Five of the knocks went for extra bases.
The Yellow Jackets nearly erased a 4-0 deficit before dropping the opener. They scored three times in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Ward and
David Ledbetter's two-run single.
Cam McWilliams tallied two hits and Cardwell doubled. The Pumas turned three double plays in the contest.
