Yellow Jackets pleased with Point Park split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio - A combination of a busy finals week and nationally-ranked Point Park coming to town was a potential recipe for disaster, but Cedarville came away with a win and a loss against the NAIA No. 21 Pioneers.

The Yellow Jackets took the opener, 5-4, and PPU blanked the home team in the nightcap, 3-0.

CU never trailed in the first game while bringing Point Park's 12-game winning streak to a halt.

David Lenhardt broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning with a one-out single up the middle to score Cam McWilliams. Ryan Ledbetter dropped an RBI single down the left field line to bring Chris Ward across to make it 5-3.

Starting pitcher David Ledbetter went the first 3 1/3 innings and struck out five. Jordan Ammon, 3-1, notched the victory in relief going the rest of the way with five strikeouts.

Logan Kasabian had two hits and scored twice. Dan Larkin tallied two hits and Ward added a double.

In the second game, the Yellow Jackets outhit the visitors, 6-5, but failed to dent the plate. Point Park, 39-14 overall, scored an unearned run in the first inning and then made the most of two walks and two hit batters to get two more runs in the fifth.

Six different players had singles for Cedarville, 23-14.
