Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley's goal midway through the first half held up for a 1-0 non-conference result over Cedarville in the season opener for both sides.
The Cardinals found the net in the 24th minute and then turned to their defense the rest of the way.
SVSU outshot the visitors 22-1 overall and had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
It was the first-ever women's soccer meeting between the two schools.
