EUGENE, Ore. - Cedarville University alum Daniel Michalski placed fourth in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase final at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Michalski was timed in 8:22.54 at Hayward Field with the top three finishers earning a trip to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The Xenia, Ohio native was attempting to become the first Yellow Jacket male athlete to make the U.S. Olympic Team.
Former Lady Jacket Grace Norman was the gold medalist in the triathlon at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and expects to be named to this year's women's team.
Michalski was a distance runner for the Yellow Jackets from 2014-18. He was a three-time All-American and the 2017 NCAA Division II National Champion in the steeplechase.
He owns the school record in the event and seven of the top ten marks on Cedarville's all-time list.
