ASHLAND, Ohio -
Britain Musick and
Emma Bailey established new school records to highlight an impressive showing for the Lady Jackets at the Ashland Open.
Musick broke her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles twice. She had the top preliminary time of 8.87 seconds and then posted the exact same time in winning the final.
Bailey placed seventh in the shot put and eclipsed the previous CU record by two inches with a heave of 41-11.25 (12.78 meters).
Four other Cedarville performers met the NCAA Division II provisional standard in their event including
Rachel Sweeney-Bredeson, who was fourth in the mile in 4:55.43 - No. 8 on the school's all-time list.
In the 3K,
Naomi Herman finished seventh (9:53.53),
Bethany Sholl was eighth (9:55.95), and
Alayna Ackley came in ninth (9:57.66).
All three were NCAA provisional qualifiers with their efforts rating second, third, and fourth, respectively, on CU's best-ever performances.
Six other Lady Jackets posted marks that appear on the program's all-time Top 10:
- Alexandra Brizzi - fourth in the 60 meter finals (7.80; #7 at CU); third in the prelims (7.81; #8)
- Brizzi - third in the 200 meters (25.39; #3)
- Nora Hagan - fifth in the 200 meters (25.42; #5)
- Haleigh Eckert - sixth in the pole vault (12-7.50; 3.85m; tie #3)
- Sarah Himes - 15th in the weight throw (49-11; 15.21m; #7)
The Lady Jackets will host the NCCAA Indoor Championship on Feb. 11-12 at the Doden Field House.
