COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Alexandra Brizzi and
Bethany Sholl each broke Lady Jacket records in the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University.
Brizzi took 0.19 seconds off the previous mark in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.78 seconds which placed 10th overall.
Sholl ran the program's first sub-17 performance in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:57.32 to finish third. The effort was more than four seconds faster than the old record.
Both athletes met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard as did
Rachel Sweeney-Bredeson and
Hannah Willow.
Bredeson was the runner-up in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:48.74. The time ranks No. 4 all-time at CU.
Willow was second in the high jump by clearing 5-7 (1.70 meters) which ties for the second-best mark in school history.
Sarah Himes was seventh in the discus with heave of 137-11 (42.05m) - No. 7 on the Lady Jackets' Top 10.
