ALLENDALE, Mich. -
Rachel Sweeney-Bredeson placed sixth in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
For the second day in a row, the graduate student from Xenia, Ohio smashed her own school record in becoming just the third Lady Jacket to be an NCAA Outdoor All-American.
Bredeson posted a time of 10:24.13 to trim more than six seconds off of the CU record she set 24 hours earlier in the prelims. She was fifth in her heat and the eighth-fastest qualifier overall when she ran 10:30.77.
She ends her career with the top four times in program history in the steeple and six of the top eight.
Bredeson joins three-time All-American Carsyn Koch (800) and Olivia Esbenshade (1,500) as Cedarville's only NCAA Division II All-Americans in women's outdoor track & field.
On Thursday night in the 10,000 meters,
Alayna Ackley placed 15th in 35:34.13 - No. 4 on the Lady Jackets' all-time list - and
Bethany Sholl was 23rd in a time of 36:47.60.
