ASHLAND, Ohio - Freshman Athlete of the Meet
Matt Schaeckenbach won the high jump and the Jackets took first in the distance medley relay at the G-MAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Cedarville finished fourth in the 11-team meet with 58 points. Tiffin won the title with 147 points and was followed by Findlay (135) and the host Eagles (127.5).
Schaeckenbach cleared 6-10.25 (2.09 meters) to win the high jump competition. It had been 19 years since a Yellow Jacket had reached that level in the event.
The effort tied the fourth-best mark in program history and met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard.
Schaeckenbach was third in the heptathlon with 4,992 points - No. 3 all-time at CU and a provisional qualifying total. He won the 60 meter hurdles (8.43 seconds) and the high jump (6-7.75; 2.03m).
The DMR foursome of
Braedon Killion,
Brandon Rogers,
Caleb Sultan, and
Ramen Felumlee was a winner in a G-MAC meet record time of 9:48.55 - the second-fastest ever at Cedarville.
Jaden Johnson was the runner-up in the 400 meters in 47.82 seconds. That came after he posted a school-record 47.63 effort in the prelims.
Isaiah Kelly was third in the 5K (14:28.95) which ranks No. 4 at Cedarville.
The 4 x 400 meter relay unit of
Michael Braxton,
Jeremy Johnson,
Brandon Rogers, and
Jaden Johnson placed third in 3:14.40 - No. 3 on the Jackets' Top 10.
David Entz was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles final (8.14), but his prelims time of 8.05 tied the school record.
