TOURNAMENT INFO

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Jackets opened the Cedarville Invitational with a sweep of Saginaw Valley State before falling to Indianapolis in front of 1,033 fans at the Callan Athletic Center.

Cedarville handled SVSU in straight sets, 25-14, 25-11, 25-21. Cedarville hit .346 as a team and limited the Cardinals to a negative attack percentage.

Madelyn Hensley powered the attack with 14 kills and five service aces. Kaley Matney handed out 27 assists while Janae Heegaard and Haley Koch rejected five blocks apiece.

In the nightcap, UIndy, a team receiving votes in the national poll, swept the hosts 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.

Hensley again led the offense with 16 kills and 18 points. Cassi Shields added nine kills, Matney tallied 33 assists, and Heegaard added five blocks for the Lady Jackets, 3-2 overall.

Quotable: Head Coach Greg Smith
Saginaw Valley State - "I thought it was really good! We played in good rhythm, we were very cohesive, and played with confidence. We did a lot of things well. We came out focused and ready to go. It was a good way to start the tournament"

Indianapolis - "Obviously, there is disappointment. UIndy is a very good team. They're receiving votes in the national poll and rightly so. We just didn't execute especially in the first set. We weren't there. We may have let the moment get to us a little too much. We didn't show or play our best."
