CEDARVILLE, Ohio –
Matt Schaeckenbach broke two schools records and
Josh Paul set another in the Cedarville Collegiate Invite at the Doden Field House.
Schaeckenbach became the first Yellow Jacket to clear seven feet indoors in the high jump with a winning leap of 7-0.25 (2.14 meters). Nate Freeman set the previous record of 6-11 nearly 27 years ago.
Just 15 minutes later he won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.04 seconds to shave 0.01 seconds off the old mark which had been accomplished four times.
Schaeckenbach's performances both met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard.
Paul broke his own record in the triple jump by soaring 48-7.25 (14.81m). The NCAA provisional qualifier added ten inches to his former best which occurred at the Wittenberg Opener in December.
Three others won events on the track. The trio was
Eden Antrim in the 800 (1:58.43),
Trevor Billingsley in the mile (4:21.57), and
Jeremiah Hetrick in the 3,000 (8:55.40).
The Jackets won three additional field events including
Nate Raab in the long jump whose leap of 22-6.50 (6.87m) rates No. 6 on the program's Top 10 list.
Andrew Suter won the pole vault at 15-3 (4.65m) and
Jarrett Johnson was victorious in the weight throw with a heave of 49-7.25 (15.12m).
Cedarville cruised to the team title with 234 points while Central State was the runner-up with 133.5.
