CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Cedarville earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Governors State in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate overcoming an opening setback to secure the match.
 
Game one featured a dramatic comeback bid by the Yellow Jackets. Competing with Mii Swordfighter, Cloud, Wolf and Inkling, Cedarville fell behind early as Sonic claimed the first five stocks. Logan responded with four quick stocks to swing momentum, and Andrew, playing as Cloud, rallied late to force a 1-1 situation.
 
Despite the push, CU narrowly dropped the opener, 12-11.
 
The Jackets answered emphatically in game two with a dominant 12-4 win. Logan, competing as Mii Brawler, set the tone with back-to-back 3-0 sweeps to build a commanding advantage.
 
Maintaining control throughout, Cedarville extended its lead before closing out the game behind a strong Joker performance to even the match.
 
The deciding third game proved to be another tight battle. Logan opened with a 3-1 victory as Mii Swordfighter to give Cedarville an early edge. Contributions from Mark (Wolf) and Mathias (Joker) helped the Yellow Jackets maintain a narrow lead entering the final stocks.
