CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville Esports earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Indiana University in Marvel Rivals, taking the decisive fifth map to secure the match.
The Yellow Jackets, 14-11 overall and 9-2 in Marvel Rivals, captured three maps in a tightly contested best-of-five series.
CU opened strong with a 2-0 win on Krakoa (Hellfire Gala) behind an MVP performance from Fysx. Indiana responded on Hall of Djalia (Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda), but the Jackets pushed the map to three games before falling 2-1.
Indiana evened the match with 2-1 wins on Spider Islands (Tokyo 2099) and Celestial Husk (Klyntar).
Facing elimination, Cedarville delivered its best performance of the night, taking Central Park (Empire of Eternal Night), 3-1, with log_hoffman earning MVP honors to clinch the overall victory.
Earlier in the evening, Wittenberg took down the Jackets, 3-0, in Rocket League action.
