JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman claimed both ends of a doubleheader from the Yellow Jackets to complete a three-game series sweep at Silver Diamond
The Eagles won the nine-inning opener, 4-3, by breaking a tie game with a run in the seventh.
Freshman
Da'Vonn Stevens hit a two-run homer in the top of the inning to forge the 3-3 deadlock. He doubled earlier in the contest and finished 2-for-4.
Offense was limited in the chilly weather with Cedarville totaling five hits compared to four for the Eagles.
The seven-inning second game was all Carson-Newman with the hosts scoring six runs in the first inning, six in the second, and seven in the fifth.
Six different players had base hits for the Yellow Jackets, 1-4 overall, Stevens belted a solo homer and
Chris Montes de Oca doubled.
