Cedarville wins pair of one-run decisions at Walsh

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Pitching and defense made the difference as the Lady Jackets swept a G-MAC twinbill at Walsh.

Cedarville won the first game, 3-2, waited for a nearly two-hour rain delay, and then completed the sweep with a 2-1 result.

Maya Merrill, 5-11, went the distance in the circle in the opener. She allowed one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Jackets plated three unearned runs in the fifth inning. One run scored on a throwing error, Macy Sidebottom bunted home a run, and Anna Gorshak delivered a sacrifice fly.

Chesnie Patton, 7-8, tossed all seven innings of the nightcap. She allowed one earned run on five hits and fanned four batters.

Sidebottom had two of the team's five hits. Ella Leonard had an RBI double and Ella Mitchell squeezed in the second run.

Walsh had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Patton got out of the jam with a foul out and fly out as CU improved to 14-26 overall and 6-8 G-MAC.
