Records fall in Yellow Jackets' 157-91 romp

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - It was a record-setting performance on many fronts as NAIA #15 Cedarville blew out Rio Grande, 157-91, in the final game of the Rio Grande Classic. The outcome was two points shy of the NAIA Division II record.

The Yellow Jackets, 1-1, broke the previous school single-game record for points scored set on Dec. 13, 1994 in a 142-44 win at Indiana-East. They also established new marks for most points scored in a half (83), field goals made (59), three-pointers made (20), and assists (38).

Cedarville hit 10-of-15 threes in the first half while exploding out to an 83-53 bulge by halftime. The Jackets went 10-of-13 beyond the arc in the second period and shot 66 percent from the field overall for the game.

Chris Beals was 6-for-7 from long range to lead six players in double figures with a career-high 25 points. Ricardo Alliman made all nine of his field goals and all five free throws for 23 points.

Austin Foote came off the bench with 23 points and Brandon Sok tallied 18 in a reserve role. Daniel Kohavi netted 14 points and Brian Hecker added 12. Derrick Hannon dished out a career-high 13 assists while Haddon Anderson was good for nine assists.

All 13 players in uniform scored for the Yellow Jackets. CU was 19-for-21 from the free throw line and enjoyed a 51-25 rebound advantage. [STATS]
