CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets swept the doubles to set the stage for a 5-4 victory over defending American Mideast Conference champion Malone at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex to end a six-match losing streak.
Seniors Kevin Furst and Brent Martin were recognized prior to their final home match and then the #1 duo registered an 8-6 win. They received support from #2 Kyle DeBoer and Caleb Speicher, 8-6, as well as #3 Kyle Kirby and Jeff Whitcomb, 8-1.
The clincher came at #3 singles when DeBoer, who lost the first set 6-3 and was tied 1-1 in the second, was awarded the point when his opponent could not continue because of injury. The other point was secured by #6 Zach Rost, 6-3, 6-4 as Cedarville improved to 5-13 overall and 1-4 AMC. Malone is 6-9 and 3-3 AMC. [RESULTS]
