ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Chris Beals hit four key free throws in the final 20 seconds and the NAIA Division II #23 Yellow Jackets pulled out a 74-70 American Mideast Conference victory at Roberts Wesleyan.
Cedarville found itself tied with the host Raiders 66-66 when Ricardo Alliman grabbed an offensive rebound and muscled in a basket to give the Jackets the lead for good with 1:40 to play. His lay-up with 51 seconds left made it 70-67 before Beals did the rest from the line.
CU, 12-7 overall and 4-2 AMC, trailed 40-34 at halftime despite jumping out to a 19-10 early lead. It was still an eight-point hole in the opening moments of the second period, but the Yellow Jackets turned around a 48-42 disadvantage by reeling off 14 straight points to get back in the game.
Alliman paced four players in double figures with game-highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Austin Foote came off the bench with 13 points, Beals finished with 12, and Derrick Hannon ended up with 11 points and five steals.
Roberts Wesleyan, 10-9 and 3-5 AMC, shot 55 percent from the field in the first period. The Jackets turned the defense up a notch to hold the Raiders to 32 percent in the second half. [STATS]
