Jackets hold off Grace in NCCAA regional

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - No. 6 seed Cedarville outlasted No. 3 Grace in five sets to finish pool play in the NCCAA Midwest Regional at the Callan Athletic Center. No. 2 Spring Arbor defeated the Lady Jackets in the opener.

Cedarville moves on to Saturday's semifinals to play No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan at 10 a.m.

CU took care of Grace 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-7 in the second match of the day to improve to 18-19 overall.

Stephanie Rogers and Kylee Husak buried 14 kills apiece for the Lady Jackets. Rogers also turned aside six blocks at the net.

Lauren Gill put down 12 kills, Sarah Hartman had 10 kills and three blocks, and Kelsey Christiansen added four blocks.

Erica Bartholomew set up 49 assists and Heather Kirkpatrick totaled 12 digs. Kara Yutzy served up three aces to go along with nine digs.

Spring Arbor bounced back to knock off Cedarville in four sets in the opener by scores of 20-25, 25-20, 31-29, 25-22.

Rogers produced 19 kills with four blocks. Other players in double figures in kills were Gill (15), Husak (12), and Hartman (11). Bartholomew handed out 57 assists and Kirkpatrick came up with 22 digs.
