INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cedarville defeated host Marian, 3-1, in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader and the Knights had to rally in their final at bat to salvage a 7-5 victory in the nightcap.
The Lady Jackets broke a 1-1 tie in the opener with a pair of unearned runs in the 5th inning. CU got on the board first when Michelle McQueen opened the 3rd with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Kendra Kassonie.
Jenna Fox had a pair of hits and McQueen scored twice. Winning pitcher Kayla Thornsberry allowed an unearned run on just four singles. She struck out two and did not walk a batter. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]
Cedarville took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning of the second game and even retired the first batter. The Knights pulled out the win thanks to a two-run double and a game-ending two-run homer.
Fox went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run batted in. Paige Stewart was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI's while McQueen added two more hits.
