NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Justin Hoffman won two events and was part of a winning relay team in being named the Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet at the American Mideast Conference Championship where Cedarville was the runner-up.
Hoffman ran to victory in the 110 meter hurdles in 14.65 seconds, won the 400 meter hurdles in 54.33, and was 6th in the 400 meter dash in 50.66. He joined Michael Beight, Sammy Starr, and Brandon Tress to win the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:24.22.
Josh Wiseman set school and meet records in winning the 5,000 meter race walk in 20:46.06. Athletes who win individual and relay events comprise the All-AMC First Team.
Four Yellow Jackets were the runner-up in their respective events. The quartet included Beight in the 200 meter dash (22.58), Starr in the 400 (49.55), Evan Thayer in the 1,500 (4:10.37), and Sam LeMaster in the discus (138-4). Second-place finishers in individual events only are considered All-AMC Second Team.
Cedarville had one new NAIA automatic qualifier. Joel Pfahler's 5th-place time in the 5K race walk of 26:10.34 met the national mark.
Malone won the six-team meet with 256.5 points. The Yellow Jackets had 232 points and Notre Dame tallied 182.
