Lady Jackets go quietly in season finale

Stewart ties CU record for doubles

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville honored its lone senior, Jenna Fox, on the final day of the 2010 season before being snuffed out in an American Mideast Conference doubleheader by Point Park, 6-1 and 6-0.

Fox was recognized in a pre-game ceremony with gifts including flowers and an engraved wooden bat. The four-year starter and two-time All-NCCAA Midwest Region selection batted .316 during her 177-game career including a team-best .366 this spring.

That was as much celebrating as the Lady Jackets did the rest of the afternoon. They tallied just three hits in the opener and the only run was unearned. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]

The defense fell apart in the nightcap with a season-high six errors that led to five unearned runs for the visiting Pioneers. The only CU highlight was when freshman Paige Stewart hammered her 21st double of the year in the first inning. It tied the single-season school record set by NAIA All-American and national batting champion Denise DeWalt in 1990.

Cedarville's best opportunity to score came in the 5th inning when they loaded the bases with no one out, but came up empty. Kendra Kassonie had two of the five hits for the Lady Jackets, who finish 21-29 overall and 6-10 AMC. Point Park is 19-9 and 8-5 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
