MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Mount Vernon Nazarene took both games of an American Mideast Conference doubleheader from the visiting Lady Jackets by scores of 2-0 and 10-1.

The overall statistics for the two contests were similar. MVNU outhit Cedarville 14-13 and both squads stranded 11 runners on base, however, the Lady Jacket defense coughed up seven unearned runs on the day.

In the opener, Cedarville outhit the Cougars, 6-5, but MVNU got the only run it needed in its first at bat with an unearned tally. Kendra Kassonie finished with a couple of hits while Jenna Fox doubled. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]

The Lady Jackets, 10-19 overall and 2-4 AMC, got on the board first in the nightcap. Kassonie opened the game with a single, advanced to third on a Paige Stewart double, and then scored on an RBI single by Fox.

The lead was short lived as Mount Vernon Nazarene responded with six unearned runs. The game was called after five innings by the 8-run mercy rule. Meghan Creech doubled twice as part of Cedarville's seven-hit attack. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
