Yellow Jackets cool off NDC

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Nate Davenport's offensive display powered Cedarville to a 13-5 win over Notre Dame and a sweep of their American Mideast Conference doubleheader. The Jackets also claimed the opener, 6-4.

Cedarville, 21-7 overall, won three-of-four games in the season-opening AMC series. The Falcons had entered the fray with a 10-game winning streak.

Davenport pounded his sixth home run of the season to go along with three doubles in the nightcap. He scored four runs and drove in four as CU bolted to an insurmountable 7-0 lead after three innings.

Dan Petke was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and two RBI's. Rob Nesteroff was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and five RBI's while Alex Beelen added a pair of hits.

Freshman righthander David Ledbetter fired a complete game to up his record to 3-0. He struck out eight.

The Jackets had to rally from a 3-0 deficit in the first game. They tied it in the fourth inning when Nesteroff delivered an RBI double and Petke followed with a two-run double.

Tyler Rost singled home Beelen in the fifth to give the hosts the lead for good. Nesteroff singled through the right side for a run and Petke was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Nesteroff finished with two hits and two RBI's. Beelen had two hits and Petke totaled three RBI's.

#T.J. Taylor#, 3-2, fanned six batters in six innings. Andrew York faced just three batters in the seventh with two strikeouts to earn his first save.
