Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Austin Pickett drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with 3.8 seconds left and the Yellow Jackets rallied to stun Trevecca, 74-69, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game.
Cedarville, 10-14 overall and 6-4 G-MAC, had the lead for less than 90 seconds the entire game - all in the second half - and there were six ties.
With the score deadlocked, 69-69, the Trojans missed two free throws with 27 seconds left. Pickett eventually let fly from 22 feet on the left wing to bury what was the game-winner.
The Jackets immediately fouled the hosts on the ensuing possession. After Trevecca missed the front end of a one-and-one,
Jason Cuffee sealed the outcome with two free throws with 1.8 seconds to go.
The Trojans, 9-12 and 5-4 G-MAC, never trailed in the first half and opened up an 11-point cushion. They settled for a 34-31 edge at the break following an 11-3 finish by CU.
In the second period, the Yellow Jackets had two brief leads, but Trevecca appeared to be in business with a 67-61 edge at the 3:41 mark. However, two charity tosses by
Leighton Smith followed by back-to-back lay-ups from Pickett knotted the score.

Quotable: Head Coach Pat Estepp"I'm really proud of our young men tonight. We have been on the other end of these late-game runs a couple times recently, but we had a lot of guys step up and make big plays down the stretch.
"We knew this would be a battle. We struggled early offensively and had too many turnovers the first half that led to easy baskets for them. Thankfully, Lane (Vander Hulst) gave us a big scoring boost off the bench and kept us close. Then, our guys finalized the half well and got back in the game.
"The second half was a battle. Our defense really picked up and we dug our heals in the last three minutes to hold them to two points. (Patrick) Bain gave us some great plays on both ends of the floor! AP (Pickett) made two big plays. The save late under the basket for Marcus (Reineke) started our run and, of course, making the game winner.
"Lots of guys made a contribution when they got their chance. This team is unselfish and starting to come together especially on the offensive end. I'm proud of where we are, but we can still get better."
