@CedarvilleMBB hammers OVU with big second half

Box Score VIENNA, W.Va. - Marcus Reineke led six Yellow Jackets in double figures with 21 points and J.C. Faubion added 18 as Cedarville pounded host Ohio Valley, 88-61, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.

CU has won four of its last five games to improve to 12-15 overall and 8-5 G-MAC - guaranteeing itself a winning record in league play.

The Yellow Jackets expected to have their hands full on OVU's Senior Night. The Scots had not lost at home since Dec. 6 and had won six straight on their hardwood.

Cedarville scored 9 of the last 11 points of the first half for a 39-33 edge. It was just 47-43 at the 15:45 mark when the visitors blew the lid off.

Faubion netted eight consecutive points and had 11 points in all during a 22-6 run. When the dust settled, it was a 69-49 bulge with 7:02 left. The final score was the largest lead of the contest.

Reineke hit four three-pointers and finished with 21 points while Faubion came off the bench with 18. Austin Pickett had 11 points with 10 points apiece coming from Easton Bazzoli, Jason Cuffee, and Leighton Smith.

The Yellow Jackets shot 54 percent in the final 20 minutes while holding OVU to 28 percent.

Next Up: Cedarville wraps up the regular season with a four-mile road trip to Central State on Saturday. Game time is 4:00 p.m.

Quotable: Head Coach Pat Estepp

"Once again, I'm really proud of our guys tonight! I thought we played some of our best basketball of the year on both ends of the court in the second half.

"Mike (Snell) has had OVU playing really well and they have been very tough at home this season. They hurt us in transition in the first half and we did a better job in the second slowing them down. I thought our defense really tightened up in the second half.

"Offensively, we had really good balance and J.C. (Faubion) came off the bench and gave us a big boost. We are playing our best basketball of the year heading into the tournament and that has always been our goal."
