Box Score 2 WESTFIELD, Ind. - Indianapolis and Southern Indiana downed Cedarville in a pair of non-conference games to begin the 2018 softball season at Grand Park.
UIndy, who is receiving votes in the latest NFCA Division II national poll, blanked CU 5-0 while No. 9 USI rolled to a 14-6 decision in six innings.
In the opener, the Jackets managed just two hits, both singles, off the bats
Heather Lord and
Jessica Steger.
Pitchers
Morgan Arbogast and
McKenna Smith checked the Greyhounds on only five hits - all singles.
The Jackets took a 6-4 lead into the sixth inning against Southern Indiana when the Screaming Eagles exploded for ten runs.
Heather Lord tallied two hits with a double and two runs scored.
Kara Eiginger and
Lucia Eroshevich added two hits apiece and
Kaitlyn Woerner delivered a two-run double.
Stinger Notes:
- Eroshevich batted for the first time in her collegiate career with two hits vs. Southern Indiana.
- Hannah Lord stole two bases against USI.
- Cedarville plays the Screaming Eagles again on March 3 at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
