WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets put their first seven runners among the Top 15 finishers and claimed first place at the Wilmington Classic.
Cedarville won the 21-team meet with 42 points. Mount Vernon Nazarene was the runner-up (93) with Rio Grande third (119).
Trevor Billingsley led the Jackets by placing fifth in 25:56.6. Others in the Top 10 included
Joey Carroll (7th, 25:56.7),
Joey Merrill (8th, 25:57.2), and
Nathan Garrett (9th, 25:59.9).
The rest of the first seven featured
Jeremiah Hetrick (13th, 26:16.1),
Ezekiel Rice (14th, 26:19.0), and
Jonathan Christopher (15th, 26:20.3).

"We started off at a controlled pace with the top group and then with a mile to go let them go as fast as they wanted. The close proximity of each person to one another was a good sign that they were running comfortably and along the way we also happened to get the team win."
