HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Matt Brooker was the individual runner-up and the NAIA #20 Yellow Jackets finished second behind three-time defending national men's cross country champion Malone at the American Mideast Conference Championship.
Brooker was timed in 25:16 for the 8,000 meter course at Houghton College. The day featured 38° temperatures, snow flurries, and soggy footing.
Evan Thayer joined Brooker on the seven-member All-AMC First Team by placing 5th. His time was 25:29.
Two Yellow Jackets made the All-AMC Second Team. Joseph Cathey was 9th in 25:39 and #Jordan Davies was 14th in 26:06.
The rest of CU's top seven was All-AMC honorable mention. The trio included Chris Vaughn (15th; 26:09), Josiah Bragg (16th; 26:12), and #T.J. Badertscher# (17th; 26:17).
NAIA #4 Malone won the nine-team meet with 29 points. The Yellow Jackets totaled 45 points and Walsh was a distant 3rd with 130.
